Cold Winter nights draw in...

Ruth shopping for pumpkin at Chaguanas main covered market

David continues his adventures in the bush...

It's October and we are really not missing those winter evenings drawing in. The temp here hovers around 30/32 but seems hotter between rain showers.
Things continue to go well, the girls are very busy with school and homework. We are realling enjoyiong the multicultural life we are experiencing.Iona comes home with words like Eid-Al-Fatur on her spelling list, that's different to Grange. We are gearing up for Divali, with invitations from families to share in celebrations. Iona is keen to cellebrate bonfire night...we'll see, funny one to explain to the neighbours, yes, we are celebrating burning a man alive on a fire.
I have entered a mountain biking race next month so am trying to prepare. I cycle most days round Chaguanas dodging cars and lorries, its quicker than driving. I have been on a few longer trips out on the local roads but I am constantly worrying about dogs and being held up, so it takes the edge off the fun. There is a really great place to ride about 1 hours drive away, with good mountainbiking trails. It is where the race will be held. I went for a practice last Saturday. The girls ran and I practiced the technical bits of the course, and didn't fall off!
Keep an eye on Sky Sports for live coverage of the event...

We want to vote'missionary tourism'
please.

Careful with the biking David - no broken collar bones - the paramedics may not be as efficient as those in Cumbria - they wont hear your shout in Grange.

Is this secret training for Grizedale Challenge next year David?!
Tracy has got you down as number 1 already!
Holly says thank you for my card, she misses Zoe very much as well. She has introduced the three new girls in the class to Zoe(!).
I'm sure your missing the cosy winter evenings really, all that hot, dry sunny weather is over-rated really! NOT!
We'll put some pictures of Bonfire night on our blog.
