Turtle Watching

Imagine being on an isolated beach (Matura), no one else around as the sun sets and watching 60 newborn leatherback turtles emerge from a nest in the sand and crawl down to the sea. What an amazing thing to witness, Zoe and Iona were so excited. We were able to pick them up and help them on their way. Only 1 in a 1000 survive through to adult hood.Later that night about 10pm we went with a guide and a group to witness a female Leatherback digging a hole and laying eggs. It was an amazing sight, hard to describe. The pictures do not it justice, hope to go back again before the laying season finishes in August.
